New Year's Resolution

I am not going to make any resolutions this year because I am self-aware enough to realize that I will never follow through with them anyway. Every year tons of people say what they're gonna do with their life and they never follow through, the sad part is, they actually believe that they are going to do it.

My christmas wishes

This year for Christmas I want a subwoofer and an amp, studio monitors for my computer, and other odds and inns. I want a sub and amp because the speakers in my truck can't carry the lows like I want them to. They are amazing at accurately reproducing mids and highs, so a sub should round out the lows nicely after I set up a high pass filter on the speakers. I want studio monitors because, if you couldn't tell, I love audio.

Favorite snow activity

My favorite thing to do in the snow is between sledding and four wheeling. Sledding is pretty fun because I live on a big hill. There is a huge decline then it levels out for a couple feet and then dives down again. What makes it even more exciting is that you have to thread the needle between two houses on the flat area. It is even more fun if you go down backwards and blindfolded. Four wheeling is fun because you slide all over the place. You can easily slide around turns and do doughnuts.

Thanksgiving break

Over my thanksgiving break I plan to do lots of really cool things, I will probably also do things that are not really cool, like work and write my English 101 paper. But the cool things I will do are play lots of video games. I will mostly play Call of Duty : Black Ops and Rock Band 3, I will probably also play some Fallout : New Vegas. Hopefully this will be a relatively fun and enjoyable thanksgiving break.

My Bucket List

Before I die I want to do many a things. Here are some of them in no particular order: Sky dive, I think it would be really fun to jump out of a plane and go plummeting toward the earth, pulling the cord at the last possible moment, that would be very thrilling. Another thing I want to do is be involved in some sort of race, preferably WTCC or nascar, either would be fun. And one more thing I would do is drive into the center of a raging hurricane.

My game hero

If I could be any video game character I would be Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. He is awesome because he just goes around killing all kinds of aliens and saying cool stuff about it while he does it like its no big deal. He also has enough strength to impale a spiked grenade into a wall so that when aliens walk by they will explode. And the most awesome thing about him is that he sometimes kills the aliens with a chainsaw that is attached to the end of his gun.

Transformation

If I could be any animal, I would be a pterodactyl. I would love to fly around in the air, that would definitely be the highlight of being any sort of bird. Also, if I was a pterodactyl I could swoop down on my prey and destroy it with my large talons. Another good thing would be that could screech incredibly loud and annoy everyone, but they couldn't complain cause I would kill them with my talons.

Game Progress

Our game is moving along quite nicely. Pretty much all of the code is done now and it is just a matter of adding the questions. Scoring, lives, ammo and reloading all work. Also, there are now awesome laser sounds for shooting and reloading. We have about 20 questions already in the game and we will probably put about 5 more. There will be some minor modifications to the code and then we will be done.

Platform Project

My overall opinion of the platform project is that it is very good for helping to learn code and also very fun. The most interesting part of the project was figuring out how to make the pickups work correctly. I have learned about global acceleration and how to change a registration point after you already made the movie clip. This will definitely be used in our game because we will have platform levels

Imagining your game

I am designing my game for technology and duck hunt lovers. My game will teach players things about technology they may not already know. The game happens in a field full of ducks with the letter A, B, or C branded on their side. The game world does little to teach players about the topic other then the occasional technology reference, it will also provide more fun so they will be interested in playing the game more. The game is a better way of understanding because it is funner than a quiz.

Imagining Your Game

I am designing my game for the average American, they do not have to know anything about green technology to play it, the game will teach them. The game will teach them the importance of how what happens now will affect the future. The game happens all over the United States. The game world teaches people with its surroundings. A game is a better way of understanding the topic than a quiz because nobody wants to do a quiz.

Educational games

The most important thing about a game is how fun it is to play.
Good, smooth game play makes a game fun and gives it replay value.
An educational game is fun when the information is ninja'd into the game so people don't realize they're learning.
I am thinking about making my game about green technology.

Playing to Learn

I think educational games can be very fun. However, it has to be done right. You have to ninja the educational stuff into the game so that people don't realize that they are learning. I think the best genre for an educational game would probably be a role playing game because you would be put in the shoes of someone and it would be easier to learn. This topic has given me one or two ideas, but not many.

Gaming in the future

This year I am thinking about doing a hidden object / escape game based around drafting. However, this may change.

Our next project

For our Star Wars / Science Fiction project I am planning to make the Viper Mk-IV from Battlestar Galactica.

Airplane project

I believe that my airplane, a p51-b Mustang has went relatively well. There was a few trouble spots but I was able to work through them.

Summer

This summer was pretty fun. The first thing I did this summer was go to a Dave Matthews Band concert in Columbus, Ohio with a few of my friends. It was most definitely the highlight of my summer. I also went to Orlando, Florida with my family. We went to Universal Studis, Busch Gardens, and Sea World that was pretty fun as well. The last thing I did was go to Cedar Point with one of my friends.

Experience

This class has been pretty good this year. I have gained much experience in this class. This year I have learned a lot about the three dimensional side of AutoCAD. Previously I had known a lot about two dimensional and I knew a lot of the commands and how to use them, but I did not know a lot about three dimensional. I have used my new found skills to create a car, tank, trebuchet, and a hover bus.

Experience

This class has been pretty good this year. I have gained much experience in this class. I have learned more about adobe flash CS. That being said, there is still much to learn. I am only in game design 1. Next year I will take game design 2. I should learn even more next year and will hopefully make an even better game than the on I made this year, which I believe this one is not that bad.

Game Progress

Team Oily Baconfat's game has been coming along very nicely. We have three good levels that have been tested extensively and an experimental fourth level, we do not know if it will make it to the final version of the game. Also, any idea of a final boss level have dwindled away because we do not know how to go about it, nor do we really have enough time. So, our game will have either three or four levels.

Summer Plans

This summer I plan on going to at least one Dave Matthews Band concert, hopefully more if I have time, then I'm going to Florida, there I'm going to go to Universal Studios and Busch Gardens, other than that I'm not really doing much other than sitting around, working, and maybe playing music a couple of times with my friends. Hopefully this will be a relatively good summer, but only time will tell I guess.

Game Progress

Our game is coming along really nice, the score is finally fully working and transfers to the next level. Now we have three levels, the plan is to have four or five levels and maybe a boss level, however that is dependent on time left after fully completing the rest of the game. Right now some of levels do have some bugs and need some tweaking but nothing major. Hopefully we will get to do everything we want to.

Earthquakes?

Recently, a Muslim prophet claimed that earthquakes are caused by women wearing scantily clad clothing. I don't know what science teacher they had, but last I heard, earthquakes are caused by tectonic plates colliding under the Earth's crust. This guy is extraordinarily stupid and clearly knows nothing at all about anything. I can't even think of anything else to say about this rediculous guy.

Game Progress

Our game has made it surprisingly far, so far we have made the main charter and the enemy, we have also coded the game to make blocks in places assigned by an array. The main character and enemy movement has been coded and so has destroying the enemies, the next thing that needs to be coded is scoring, it seems easy enough but so far it hasn't been. Also we need to create a couple more levels.

If I were a God

If I were a God and could recreate the world any way I wanted I would make no small pests or bugs exist. Also I would make the world have easy buttons everywhere for people to use at will. Another thing I would do is make the weather always be 70-80 degrees and sunny which would be awesome, and plants wouldn't need rain, actually plants wouldnt exist because whatever food people want would magically grow in their refrigerator.

superhero

If I were any superhero I would be LAN Man, I would go around helping everyone hook up their local area networks. One might think that this sort of thing would already exist as it requires no actual super powers, but unfortunately all that claim to help people hook up their internet cost way too much and are usually extremely stupid and don't know what their doing. Also I would do it for free and in .0001 seconds.

What i did over spring break

Over Spring Break, I did not do a lot, most of the time I played video games and I also went to a Penguins game. The video games I played most were NHL10, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Age of Empires 2. The Penguins game was the next to last regular season game ever at Mellon arena, they played the Washington Capitals and unfortunately lost, but it was still pretty fun to be there anyway.

Spring Break

On Spring Break I will be going to Pittsburgh, PA to see the Penguins take on the Washington Capitals in the second to last regular season game ever held at Mellon arena. After I get back from there I am planning on catching up on some sleep and playing some video games. The two video games I most want to play are Battle Field Bad Company 2 and NHL 10. I can't think of anything else I will do.

Favorite athlete

My personal all time favorite athlete is probably Sydney Crosby. Sydney Crosby plays hockey for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is a center on their first line and he is the captain of their team. He is one of the best active hockey players right now. He and Alexander Ovechkin are easily the two best. Also Sidney Crosby led the Canadians to the gold medal in the winter olympics, I would have rather had USA win but at least it was Sid that scored the game winner

hopes and goals

This next quarter of school me and the rest of team OilyBaconFat hope to complete our game (obviously). More specifically, we hope to make at least five more levels to our game Going Green and also fix any glitches that we may have. The only glitch that is currently known is that on the edges of platforms you can stand in the air and also if you are under the edge of a platform and jump you will be stopped.

Others game

One other game that I like alot is called Escape from Darfur. It is being created by the flash pioneers, whos team name happens to be Wafflehouse. So far the game has been very well created. It is not actually playable but that is possibly because they have been spending so much time perfecting everything else. I believe that it will be a very good game by the time it is finished.

Fav. and Least Fav. part of this class

My favorite part of this class is that we get to be creative and create our own games that we think of ourselves. My least favorite part of this class is quite simply actionscript. How am I supposed to create a game if I don't know anything about actionscrip, that is why there needs to be an actionscript class before game design. How can anyone be expected to know how to create their game without proper knowledge of actionscript?

Progress

In drafting I have learned a lot of stuff. We had to make a siege weapon, I made a trebuchet. I thought that I did a pretty good job with it and made it pretty accurate and to scale. Now we are all making cars. I am making the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard, which is a 1969 Dodge Charger. So far it has been a challenge. Right now I have the body pretty well completed and am working on tires

game progress

Our game is going really good. We have actually made a lot of progress recently. We finally got the enemies to work and now the rest of the game making should be pretty much straightforward. All we will have to do to create more levels is make more arrays in which we will put 1's for blocks, 5's for enemies, 6's for the invisible blocks that the enemies stop on, and finally 7's for the carbon atoms.

Internet

I think that the internet has made society both smarter and lazier. Smarter for the fact that we have a worlds worth of knowledge at our fingertips with google. Anything we want to know we can simply type it in and tons of pages will come up. Also it has made us lazier because of that same fact. We don't have to go to libraries and search through books. Also people shop online instead of actually going to stores

Movie

A movie that would describe my life is probably office space. Unfortunately I'm not stealing thousands of dollars like he did and I don't actually work in an office, but I do work on computers, I'm a pretty big computer geek and I don't like my job. Also I've never been put into a trance that I never came out of (or any for that matter) by a hypnotist. I wish my life was more like 007.

future children & SVHS?

If I was to have children in the future I would probably not send them to spring valley. Mainly because I would probably not be living here any more. However, that is not the only reason. Spring Valley is not all that good of a school compared to the many others out there that they could go to. I would send them to a school that made heavy use of technology, and does not use text books.

Game Progress

So far our game is really good. Yesterday we put a background on one of our levels. Also I came up with a good idea for a boss level, however it can not be revealed as it is a secret. Hopefully we will create another level soon but first we need to put the enemies on the first level, which should not be too difficult.

favorite olympic contest

My favorite olympic contest is probably hockey or curling. I love to watch both of these sports. Curling is awsome because it is such a strategic game, so far we have lost every game of these olympics. I love hockey as well, hockey is a very physical sport and exciting to watch them hit each other and pin them up against the boards. I'm pretty sure that we will lose to canada though in the gold medal game and get silver.

About our game

Me and Oilymolerat are making some progress on our game. We have not made great strides but progress. Right now we have coded movement and made the code that creates the platforms. The code that makes the platforms is pretty cool because we don't have to place each one individually which saves time.

Breakfast Food

Breakfast food is usually pretty good. However, there is absolutely no good breakfast food from any fast food chain. My favorite breakfast food is probably stringed hash browns, but they have to be crispy otherwise they taste terrible. Another breakfast food I enjoy is bacon. Turkey bacon is ok however I thoroughly enjoy regular bacon much more. That is about all breakfast food I like. Eggs are ok.

Future

If I could travel to the future and live there I would like the future to be 100% awesome and lazy friendly. I don't want to ever have to move, unless of course I am playing an interactive game in which I am totally immersed. So immersed that I actually see through the eyes of my character and actually do everything. Also the future needs flying cars, and usb ports on our brains so we can upload all the knowledge we want.

Progress

Me and my game design partner Dakota, have not made a tremendous amount of progress. We have got the movement and jump code working, also we have code that generates platforms by use of an array. Other than that we have not done too much. Next we would like to make a continuous background out of a picture, and make the cars drive across the bottom of the screen.

Funny Story

One funny story that has happened to me is when I fought Chuck Morris, Chuck Noris's evil twin mother. Most people mistake Chuck Morris for Chuck Norris, big mistake. We were sitting at a bar and I noticed that she looked ridiculously like Chuck Norris, so I stood up and said "I bet everyone in here $50 that I can beat this person in a fight." We preceded to fight, unfortunately she laid the smack down on me and I lost. The funny part is..... Oh wait, there is no funny part.

Best thing Ever

The best thing that ever happened to me was when I learned to fly. It was just another day at my house, just sitting there playing video games. Suddenly Rocky the flying squirrel flew through my window. I yelled "Oh my God you broke my window! Leave!" He said "Well, fine I guess I won't teach you to fly." "WAIT!" I said, "Teach me your ways." He did. It was difficult at first, learning how to flap my arms in just the right motion, but after a while I got it. Since I learned to fly it has opened up doors to many new opportunities. For example, at the beach people see a guy flying by wind surfing and they are like "Wow, he's good." Then they see me coming flapping my arms like a mad man and boy are they impressed.

Worst Thing Ever

The worst thing that has ever happened to me was the day that a leprechaun stole me lucky charms. He was after me lucky charms all week, I had been evading all of his crazy plans to take them. However he had one plan up his very short sleeve that I could have never imagined. He blew up my house! As I was freaking out I dropped by box of precious lucky charms, he then kicked me in my balls and took them.

Winter

I like winter in many ways. For one Christmas is in the winter season and two sledding is one of the most fun things ever in existence. Me and Jacob Albright went down my gigantic hill tandem, both backwards and blindfolded. I am lucky to be alive right now. Another thing I like about winter is the school delays and closings. However, I absolutely HATE the cold it is easily the worst thing about winter.

Break

Over break I did a bunch of stuff. I had to work a little but it wasn't that bad. Mostly I played video games. I played a lot of borderlands, which is a really awesome game. It's like an inverse of Fallout 3, where FO3 was an RPG with FPS elements and Borderlands is an FPS with RPG elements. Also I played a lot of Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2, and even squeaked in some old Gears of War 2.
